About BNA

The National Bank of Angola (Banco Nacional de Angola, BNA) is the central bank of the Republic of Angola. Established in 1926 as the Bank of Angola (Banco de Angola), it was nationalized after independence in 1975 and renamed. It is a state-owned public institution headquartered in Luanda. The BNA is responsible for monetary policy, currency issuance (Kwanza), financial system supervision, international reserve management, and promotion of financial stability. It acts as banker to the State and reserve bank, and is a member of the Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI), actively developing financial inclusion policies.
